These are the two premium controllers I swear by for PS5 and Xbox — and now is the perfect time to buy them for GTA 6

While both the PS5 and Xbox consoles have excellent default controllers, there’s something special about embracing a premium pad that can offer you more, something different, or something better.

And that’s what I plan to do with GTA 6: use a premium pad, whichever console I end up playing the game on. And it just so happens that the ongoing Amazon Prime Day deals have brought the price down on my favorite options for either platform.

For Xbox, the Thrustmaster eSwap X2 controller is now just £48.80 at Amazon (was £56.60 — but has an original list price of way more than that); and for PS5, the DualSense Edge is now down to £168 at Amazon (down from £199.99), which makes the premium Sony pad much more attractive.

Two of my favorite controllers on sale right now

The Thrustmaster Eswap X2 is the Xbox controller I use the most, and it’s from a line that opened up Xbox to me when the first variant came out, soon after the Xbox consoles.

It’s a premium wired pad that has a modular design, excellent buttons and triggers, and a cracking design and build quality. Right now it’s just £48.80, which frankly feels like a mistake. This had an equally premium price tag not all that long ago, so is a bargain.

I love the original DualSense a lot, but if I were looking for something extra on PS5, then it’d have to be the DualSense Edge. It keeps all that makes the regular DualSense great, particularly those immersive features, and the ergonomic design, but layers premium features on top, allowing you to do more with a Sony controller.

Both these controllers have extra buttons too, which you can map to your liking, so if you’re looking for flexibility when playing GTA 6 — or anything, for that matter — then these pads are perfect for you and offer more than just a standard layout to work with.
