Released earlier this year, the UBP-X700U is an updated version of TechRadar’s choice for the best budget 4K Blu-ray player, the Sony UBP-X700. It regularly sells for $299.99, and has only once seen a discount this good, and that was during the last Prime Day sale in July.
The main difference between the Sony UBP-X700U and its predecessor is that the new model loses the built-in streaming capability that most people likely didn’t use since streaming is now a common feature on smart TVs. Like the UBP-X700U, it supports Dolby Vision and has dual HDMI outputs, one for audio and video and the other audio-only.

Today’s best Sony UBP-X700U Prime Day deal
In our Sony UBP–X700 review, we praised the player’s “superb 4K images with punchy color, accurate and refined textures and contrast up there with the best 4K Blu-ray players.” You can basically expect the same from this updated version, which can play SACD discs in addition to Blu-rays and DVDs.
The UBP-X700U also has a USB port up front for playing files loaded on thumb drives. There’s support for the DSD, ALAC, and FLAC high-res audio formats, and it can, of course, also play regular audio CDs.
