Jamie Miller has become the first Welsh artist to top the UK singles chart in 15 years with his viral TikTok hit, Babydoll.
Miller, who is originally from Pontprennau in Cardiff, narrowly beat Tate McRae and her single Housewife to claim the top spot on the UK Number 1 on Friday, according to the Official Charts Company.
The achievement means Miller is the first Welsh artist since 2011 to earn a UK Number 1 single – after Sian Evans’ feature on DJ Fresh’s Louder.
Miller, 29, told Charts: “I don’t even know what to say other than thank you so much for getting me Number 1, this is the biggest thing that’s ever happened to me in my life, I love you guys.”
He is also the first solo male Welsh artist in 41 years to top the singles chart, after Shakin’ Stevens’ 1985 timeless festive hit, Merry Christmas Everyone.
Babydoll was released on 7 August – months after Miller considered quitting music – and exploded after actress Jennifer Love Hewitt posted videos which featured the track.
