England vs Mexico DELAYED – What time does England play today? Is it postponed?

  • England kick-off time delayed to 2am BST / 7pm Mexico City
  • 63% chance of thunderstorms at Mexico City Stadium (Azteca)
  • More lightning delays if storms move over the stadium

The England vs Mexico kick off time has been delayed by one hour – the England game now starts at 2am BST / 7pm Mexico after a “shelter-in-place order at the Azteca Stadium”.

England’s World Cup is officially delayed for an hour (so far) as supporters, who were told to arrive two hours before kick-off, have been warned to remain in their seats at the Azteca ground.

Earlier today, experts predicted a 63% chance of thunderstorms around the Azteca. But it’s not the rain that could delay England vs Mexico – but lightning.

If lightning strikes move within 8 miles of the stadium, FIFA safety protocols could see England’s Round of 16 match halted for a minimum of 30 minutes.
