WWE 2K25 Spotlights Its Social Multiplayer Wrestling Hub, The Island – IGN

You’ve heard of Love Island, now here’s Fight Island2K is ramping up to the next installment in its wrestling lineup, WWE 2K25. While it’s going to have all the tusslin’ and scrappin’ you would expect from a WWE title, 2K is also exploring the social aspects of it with a new online hub called The Island.

Seen during today’s Sony State of Play, The Island in WWE 2K25 is a multiplayer interactive world where players can take their custom wrestlers and explore, take on challenges, and develop storylines. It’s similar to The City in the NBA 2K series, though you’ll be dunking on other wrestlers instead of the net.

There’s customization and personalization, a neon-lit city to explore, a church for The Undertaker, and much more to discover on your quest for the top.

While WWE 2K25 is planned for both last-generation and current generation consoles, as well as PC, The Island will only be available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game, per WWE 2K25’s own site. Excluding last-gen consoles from the feature may not be complete surprise this far into a new console cycle, but PC players won’t be getting The Island either it seems. Even the pre-order options for Steam don’t show any of The Island cosmetics available for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S buyers.

In our recent hands-on preview with WWE 2K25, we didn’t get a chance to check out any of the new Island content. What we did play of the actual wrestling, however, seems to be a step-forward:

“Time will tell if the advertised big sweeping changes and new modes I didn’t get to see will truly make this edition stand out from its peers,” IGN’s Dale Driver said. “But from my brief experience, it’s hard to say this is anything but a very incremental step for an already well-realised series.”

Time will, indeed, tell whether The Island is part of that incremental step, forward or backwards. It won’t be long though, as WWE 2K25 is due out on March 14, 2025 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
